Three studies of the Maderanertal
Vernissage guests at the Apero

I showed a total of 48 works, painted over a period of 25 years, from 1988 to 2013. Depicted are not only the Swiss Alps but also landscapes of Scotland and Australia and the glaciers of South Island, New Zealand. The selection below is presented chronologically. For a larger view and full details of each painting, click on the thumbnails below.

1988 - 1990

Morning Light, above Linthal Oldshore More, Sutherland Watendlath Tarn, English Lake District Rockpool and the Oberalp Peaks, Maderanertal Rockpool and Düssi, Maderanertal

The earliest works include views of the Sutherland coast of Scotland, Watendlath Tarn in the English Lake District and Maderanertal in the Swiss Canton of Uri.

1991 - 1993

Ftan, Graubünden Cottage with Red Door, Isle of Skye Scarp and the Hills of Lewis, from above Husinish Luskentyre, Low Tide and Taransay, Isle of Harris

Besides trips to the Engadine and Lötschental valleys of Switzerland, we made a memorable tour of Scotland and the Outer Hebrides.

1994 - 1996

Mountain Stream, Val d`Anniviers Muotathal below Dürrenboden Moss and Water Garden, Bella Tolla Falling Stream, Plattjen Path above Saas Fee

In addition to the alpine paintings for the Guild exhibitions, a special focus at this time was a series of mountain streams and waterfalls.

1997 - 2001

View from Thurnthaler, East Tyrol Sextener Dolomites, East Tyrol Isle of Dreams, Whitsundays, Australia River Rocks II, Wilsons Promontory, Australia Echidna Chasm, Purnululu National Park, Australia

A visit to the East Tyrol area of Austria gave us tantalising glimpses of the Dolomites, which was followed by a series of paintings based on our trips to different parts of Australia.

2002 - 2008

Gantrisch, Winter Evening Evening Light on the Säntis Matterhorn with Dent Blanche and Grand Cornier Saanenland, view from Hohe Wispile to Southeast

As a result of the Guild exhibitions in Zermatt and Saanen/Gstaad there arose a series of paintings of the Matterhorn & Co. and in the Saanenland around the Lauenensee.

2009 - 2013

Pioneer Ridge and Albert Glacier, NZ Mount Cook and La Perouse Glacier, NZ Tschingelhörner and Martinsloch - Tribute to Hans Conrad Escher, 1812 Martinsloch and Tschingelhörner in Winter Grindelwald Peaks, from the Bachalpsee

In 2010 we were able to make a second visit to New Zealand and enjoyed spectacular aerial views of the glaciers around Mount Cook on the South Island. A special project organised by the UNESCO (Sardona Tektonik Arena) provided an opportunity to study the Martinsloch above Elm, and finally, for the Guild exhibition in Grindelwald 2013, I painted three pictures of the Bernese Oberland peaks from the Bachalpsee.
