Having lived in Switzerland for over 30 years, it has been my good fortune to explore many of the areas of this beautiful country. From the perspective of the mountain painter, the interest has naturally focussed on the Alps themselves, stretching from south of the Rhone Valley in Canton Valais, through the Bernese Oberland and the Central Alps of Uri and Obwalden, to the eastern Cantons of Glarus, St. Gallen and the Grisons. In the Alpstein area of Canton Appenzell the range comes to an end overlooking the River Rhine and Lake Constance.
